Rossdale House Updates

January 28, 2017

To our residents at Rossdale House,

The power will be out in units at Rossdale House until at least Monday. Residents are encouraged to itemize items in their fridge and freezers, take photos to be submitted for reimbursement.

We are making alternate arrangements for accommodations, please call or visit our leasing office to register your name and we will be directing residents to the Coast Plaza Hotel on 104th Street until they have no more availability. In the event the Coast Plaza Hotel is out of rooms, residents are asked to please source your own accommodations and keep receipts for reimbursement. We will reimburse displaced residents $50/day/person for meals. If you are staying at the Coast Plaza Hotel you will have access to room service for $50/day/person for your meals. Please keep all receipts.

We will update this page below as more information becomes available. We would like to thank all of our residents for your patience while we deal with this unfortunate situation.

Rossdale House residents,

If you are staying at the Coast Plaza Hotel you do not need to check-out until further notice. We will be distributing a memo today to residents staying at the hotel to provide further information. We will continue to post updates here as well.

UPDATE (January 29, 2017 – 3:10 pm)

Rossdale House residents,

In an effort to streamline the process and make the start of your work week as smooth as possible considering the circumstances, Midwest Property Management has extended your stay at the Coast Plaza hotel until we have a firm timeline to resolve the electrical failure we are dealing with at Rossdale House. This means that there is no need to make arrangements to check out of your room tomorrow morning (Monday, January 30th).

We will provide updates during the day tomorrow on the progress and any timelines we are given by our electrical engineers. Residents that are staying at Coast Plaza Hotel, billing will be direct billed to Midwest Property Management for the full cost of the room, plus a $50 per day/per person meal reimbursement. For residents that are not staying at the Coast Plaza, please submit receipts for your accommodations and meals for reimbursement by Midwest Property Management.

For residents that wish to take advantage of our amenities at Edmonton House, located at 10205 100th Avenue, you are more than welcomed to use the showers, gym, pool and services. There is also a laundry room on the main floor in our resident lounge, feel free to come by and use our amenities and clean your laundry while enjoying free Wi-Fi and relaxing in our lounge. The laundry system is the same as the system at Rossdale House for your convenience.

Again, we would like to thank you all for your patience while we try our best to resolve this electrical issue at Rossdale House. We really appreciate your understanding.

UPDATE (January 30, 2017 – 7:30 am)

Electrical engineers will be at Rossdale House first thing this morning. We are hoping to have a better assessment as to the scope and repair of the electrical failure. We will post updates throughout the day as we learn more information. For our residents currently staying at the Coast Plaza hotel, your accommodations are secured until we come to a resolution – this will be communicated via this portal, our Facebook page at Rent Midwest and through the hotel desk at the Coast Plaza. The office at Rossdale House will be open during regular business hours today if you would like to contact us  and talk directly.

UPDATE (January 30, 2017 – 11:00 am)

To all residents staying at the Coast Plaza Hotel we have blocked off rooms at the Campus Tower Hotel if one more night is required.
We are making progress with the engineers and will know by 1 PM if residents can return to their suites tonight.

UPDATE (January 30, 2017 – 12:15 pm)

We have secured your reservation for one more night at the Coast Plaza Hotel.
We are working hard to secure temporary power to the building by as early as this evening.
To be safe, we recommend that you check out tomorrow morning. We will post another update around 4 pm today.

UPDATE (January 30, 2017 – 4:20 pm)

We are making progress with restoring power to Rossdale House. The units will have power tonight, hopefully in the next few hours. Please feel free to stay in a hotel room tonight and check out tomorrow morning.

UPDATE (January 30, 2017 – 7:50 pm)

We are happy to announce the temporary power is back on and we can expect hot water in approximately one hour. Please note, the generator that is running will emit noise in the back alley temporarily until we have a permanent fix in place.

UPDATE (January 31, 2017 – 9:40 am)

Welcome back to Rossdale House!
As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we would like all Rossdale House residents to join us for a complimentary hot meal served between 4 pm and 7 pm in the lobby.

We are currently working on fabricating new components for the permanent fix to the power and most of the repairs will be completed without any further disruptions to residents.
